A Bed- time Story

Brief description: A victorious battle re-told by the villagers.

Descriptive Statement:
Brief description of the storyline: Usually, bedtime stories are calm, serene, and they end well, so you can sleep well. This story has also a happy ending, but final military victory has been gained at the cost of the disasters of war: macabre fights and brutal battles. Nightmarish images show the price of a conquest paid by people from both sides. An orchestra conductor stands as a metaphor of a knight fighting in a battle.
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Quick Time, programs written in Fortran.
Hardware: Macintosh, Vax, scanner, digital camera
Techniques: It has been a collaborative effort: my computer graphics were superimposed over a video recording of the ballet performance choreographed by Sandra Minton and juxtaposed on the videotaped meteorological clips taken by Walter A. Lyons, according to music by Philip Glass.

This is a story about war and peace.  The victory makes the nightmares go away.  Every stoey has more then one side.  The difference between gaming and storytelling will diminish.

Data Mining
Imaging and Video Anna Ursyn
Music "Sonata for Vioin - III" by Toby Rush
Descriptive Statement: Humans create cities, whereas a city metaphor reflects data sets.

What technological and human worlds have in common? Humans create cities, whereas a city metaphor reflects rhythm and organization of big data sets and makes data mining easier.
My objective is to juxtapose the regularity of nature with man's intellectual constructions. Natural order guides our understanding of big data sets related to network analysis, when we employ physical analogies of the data, render the data graphically, explore them ‘by eye’ and interact in real time. Observers — whether artists or technology experts — perceive such relationships from different perspectives and different points of view.
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Quick Time, programs written in Fortran.
Hardware: Macintosh,, digital camera
Techniques: Computer plots obtained using Fortran, IGL and transformed into photosilkscreens for color variation were applied on a surface of a mirror to create an image of a city. A short animated film with people in motion has been projected on this mirror surface, just creating a reflection of people’s movement. Thus, the image of the city has been juxtaposed with the animated actions, to show how a big city life involves individual life events and daily routines.

Life in the depths as we may imagine it.

Brief description of the storyline: Ocean life has various concealed actions kept hidden from our view, present in tales and legends. It may not be fully explored yet, in terms of metaphors and beliefs.

Brief description of the storyline: Humans -- the truly organic beings -- are juxtaposed with coexisting geometric patterns in motion correlated with music.
