EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES/HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The 2008 UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival will welcome 300 middle school, high school and college jazz ensembles from throughout the US and Canada. In 2005, participating schools came from California, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa and North Carolina.

The festival is non-competitive and is open to all levels from elementary school through college/university and semi-professional. Groups may register in four categories: big bands, combos, jazz vocal groups, and vocal soloists. All groups receive audio-taped comments and, except for college groups, a feedback clinic from some of our 40 artist/clinicians.

Each day, several clinic sessions on topics ranging from improvisation and arranging to instrumental techniques are offered by the artist/clinicians and our main stage artists.
