In the dance minor, you will find a challenging and rewarding blend in the study of scientific and artistic movement principles. The quality and quantity of UNC dance and theatre productions are unparalleled in college-university programs in the Rocky Mountain region. You will study dance technique in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and ballroom dance.

The dance program produces an annual mainstage dance concert and two student showcase productions each year. Both faculty and guest artists choreograph pieces for the mainstage. Guests have included Leonard Crowfoot, Tony Coppola, Mark E. Gomez and Judy Bejarano.

Students trained by UNC faculty are currently working as professionals in productions throughout the United States, including professional dance companies, Broadway shows, and touring shows. Others teach in public schools, recreation departments, private studios, and universities or colleges. Still others have pursued graduate work in dance and dance therapy, or have taken additional training in dance conditioning, massage therapy, and as physical therapists or physical therapy assistants.

If you would like to find out more information or to become a part of the dance program at the University of Northern Colorado, contact Di Smice, Phone: (970) 351-2930, or email di.smice@unco.edu
