Then a major in Theatre Arts at the University of Northern Colorado is for you. At UNC you will find a challenging pre-professional curriculum that offers concentrations in performance studies, musical theatre, design/technology, theatre education or theatre studies.
In addition to a rigorous program of study, you will join more than 340 UNC undergraduate Theatre Arts majors in an active program that combines professional classroom instruction with firsthand theatre experience. Your professional training will be teamed with potential opportunities in UNC's Little Theatre of the Rockies and the Performing Arts Series to provide you with a solid background for work in performances, education, technical theatre and production areas.

Alumni Success. UNC alumni are working on-and off-Broadway and in professional theatre, dinner theatre, repertory and touring companies, as well as in television and motion pictures. They are successful playwrights, directors, designers, and managers and performers in theatres across the United States. Performance Opportunities. Theatre Arts students showcase their talents on the stages of the 600-seat Langworthy Theatre, 1,700-seat and 250-seat Union Colony Civic Center venues and the intimate 100-seat Norton Theatre. The Little Theatre of the Rockies, Musical Theatre, performance studies, Opera Theatre and Dance Program produce nine productions during the academic year and five each summer plus an annual children's theatre production. In addition, the UNC chapter of the national theatre fraternity Alpha Psi Omega sponsors an annual student produced and directed production.
UNC students have the opportunity to be involved as performers, technicians and designers. The productions, showcasing a wide range of styles and literature, include such shows as Titanic- The Musical, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, The Seagull, Candida, Side Show, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Laramie Project, Chorus Line, Who Will Carry the Word and Jekyll and Hyde. Throughout the year, students will get the chance to interact with a variety of guest professionals including guest actors, photographers and casting agents.
Summer Program The Little Theatre of the Rockies Summer Company has been cited as a national model for educational stock theatre. LTR has garnered praise from the critics, enthusiastic support from patrons, and respect from professionals in the field. The Little Theatre of the Rockies was founded in 1934 and is one of the oldest and most active resident stage companies in the west. LTR produces five shows during its annual summer season.
Nationally known equity guest artists join student actors for this intense professional-level eight-week program. Student actors and technicians receive both academic credit and a stipend for their "stock" experience.
The five-show season includes comedy, drama, mystery and both large and small scale musical productions. Featured guest artists have included Mary Jo Catlett, Dan McNally, Teddy Brown, Archie Smith, David Richards, Ann Ducati, Charles Dumas and Helen Manfull.
