In 1909, the College in Greeley began presenting its once-famous May Festivals, featuring fine music and pageantry for the entertainment of the campus and local communities. Students and faculty collaborated to create an outstanding festival of the arts.

Today, the annual UNC Performing and Visual Arts Gala, like its predecessor, features students from the College in a festive evening performance of music, dance and theatrical interludes, with the work of visual arts students on display in the lobby art gallery in Greeley's lovely Union Colony Civic Center.

The current PVA Gala began in 1982 as a benefit for the performing and visual arts scholarship fund. The event is held annually on the second Saturday evening in February.

Last year more than 1500 patrons enjoyed the artistry of more than 420 performers from the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance, and viewed the art work of selected students from the Department of Visual Arts.

The UNC Gala has evolved its own style over the years - a little parody, a little spoof, a lot of exceptionally fine music, dancing and acting. If you enjoy an evening of pure entertainment that includes everything from musical theatre and jazz to the incredible sound of more than 400 musicians performing a classic finale that brings down the house, then our annual Gala evening is for you!

We are extremely proud of our student artists and performers and look forward to this annual opportunity to share their premier talents. All proceeds benefit the UNC Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship Fund.

Each Gala begins with a reception in Tointon Gallery where selected Visual Arts students are showing their work. Following the performance, members of the Community Advisory Board host an elegant champagne and dessert reception for the Gala Sponsors.
