Richard Shore has performed as a collaborative pianist, theatrical music director, and choral conductor. Among Richard’s theatrical musical directing credits are award-winning productions of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, She Loves Me, and Wonderful Town, as well as critically acclaimed productions of My Way, Urinetown, the Yeston/Kopit Phantom, and many others, including regional premieres and original works. At UNC he has served as musical director for over twenty productions, workshops, and practica. Elsewhere in Colorado he has performed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the Arvada Center, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Denver Theatre in the Park, the Lake Dillon Theatre Company, the Aurora Fox, the Avenue Theater, the Carousel Dinner Theatre, and Colorado State University. Richard has served on the faculties of the University of Northern Colorado, the State University of New York College at Cortland, and Dean College in Massachusetts. He has also taught at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp, two of the nation’s most prestigious programs for young performers. His cast members, colleagues, and students number performers on Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, television, and film, as well as theatre, concert, and opera stages throughout the world. He is a music technology reviewer for Recording magazine. Richard holds a BA from Harvard University and a doctoral degree from Boston University.
