Toby Rush is an Instructor of Music Theory at the University of Northern Colorado. In addition to his teaching duties in the School of Music, he serves as Technology Operations Manager and Webmaster for the College of Performing and Visual Arts, and as Computer Lab Manager for the Music Technology Center at UNC.
An accomplished educator and computer programmer, Dr. Rush has written and published several computer applications, pedagogical and otherwise, which have garnered critical acclaim and have been used in schools, homes and offices internationally. His web site design services are in high demand and his published works include a regular column on software interface design. Professional presentations by Dr. Rush have included a paper on customizable interface design at the 16th Annual Conference for Leading Edge Developers in Dearborn, Michigan, and seminars on web design for music educators at the Colorado Music Educators Association Annual Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
His teaching experience includes more than a decade of service teaching freshman and sophomore music theory, teaching web site design at Aims Community College, serving as co-director of the Rocky Mountain Music Technology Workshop, and presentation of seminars on computer programming and interface design across the country. Dr. Rush also maintains an active role in curriculum development and teacher education within the Music Theory program. His musical compositions have been performed by collegiate, religious and civic ensembles across the southwest.
Dr. Rush received a B.A. from Adams State College in Music Education K-12/Piano, and received his M.M. and D.A. in Music Theory and Composition from UNC.
