Caleb Harris enjoys an active career as a pianist, and chamber musician.  Possessing a broad and comprehensive repertoire, he has performed throughout the USA, Austria, France, Italy, and Asia.  In recent years, Harris has toured with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, served as an orchestral pianist with the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra and appeared on many occasions as a concerto and solo performer.  Harris has performed in many prestigious venues included Carnegie Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.

Equally in demand as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist, Harris has been the musical director for several operas including Britten’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Poulenc’s, Dialogues of the Carmelites.  During the summers of 2001 and 2002, Harris was the Nat King Cole Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.  In this capacity, in addition to numerous vocal and chamber music performances, he was involved as a rehearsal pianist in productions of Ravel’s, L’enfant et les sortilege, and Stravinsky’s, Renard. As an opera repetitor, he has prepared productions for conductors including Robert Spano and Stephan Asbury.  At Tanglewood, Harris studied coaching, opera, art song, and collaborative piano with numerous musicians including Phyllis Curtin, Dawn Upshaw, Martin Katz, Kenneth Griffiths and Alan Smith.

Harris has the unique distinction of being a home school graduate.  He also holds the Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from Oklahoma Baptist University and the Master of Music degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music where he is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music Arts degree.  Throughout his education, he has been awarded many honors including a Presser Foundation Scholarship.  He has studied piano extensively with Billie Jo Forney, Ronald Lewis and Douglas Humpherys.

Recently, Harris has enjoyed an increasingly active career as a music educator.  For three years, Harris was the teaching assistant for Professor Humpherys at Eastman where he participated in coaching and musical preparation for a studio of highly gifted pianists.  In the fall of 2007, he joined the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado as an Assistant Professor of Piano and Collaborative Piano.  He loves sharing his enthusiasm and passion for music with students of all ages and welcomes inquiry or contact from people with similar interests.
