Dr. Galen Darrough has directed, adjudicated, and served as clinician to choirs in seventeen states, the provinces of Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, and has conducted All-State Honor Choirs in Nebraska, North Dakota and Oklahoma. His broad experience in choral music includes public school teaching at the junior and senior high school, community college, university, and community levels. His UNC Men's Glee Club was selected to perform for the 1996 Southwestern Division convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Dallas, Texas, and for the 1997 Colorado Music Educators Convention, and his Women's Glee was invited to perform for the 2002 CMEA conference.
Dr. Darrough has either performed or studied with conductors such as Howard Swan, Paul Salamunovich, Helmuth Rilling, William Hall, David Thorsen, Douglas McEwen, Donald Bailey, Ronald Staheli, and Roger Wagner. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from California State University Fullerton, his Master of Music/Choral Music Performance from Brigham Young University, and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music from Arizona State University. At the University of Northern Colorado, he is the conductor of the 75-voice Concert CHoir, and the 60-voice Men's Glee Club. He is a Past-President of the Colorado American Choral Directors Association, and has served in numerous capacities in both state and regional ACDA. In the Fall of 1999, he was designated the Scholar of the Year for the College of Performing and Visual Arts at UNCone of eight faculty members to be awarded throughout the university. In 2003, he was granted sabbatic leave to study Swedish Male choir repertoire in Stockhom, Sweden.
