Vergie Amendola, Professor of Music, is the Coordinator of the Collaborative Piano Program at the University of Northern Colorado. In addition, Ms. Amendola is an active chamber musician who has performed in Thailand, Korea, Slovenia, Canada and throughout the United States. Her performances have included appearances at the European Month of Culture Festival, the International Horn Symposium, the International Saxophone Symposium and recitals with Ester Hinds, Reuben Gonzales, Ron Leonard, David Jolley and Jessie Levine. She has also performed for Norman Dello Joio, George Crumb and Karel Husa in special concerts of their compositions. She performs regularly with faculty at the University of Northern Colorado and is a member of UNC's Colorado Arts resident quartet.
Previously, Ms. Amendola's work with technology in the Class Piano Program at the University garnered national attention, including coverage in the New York Times. In addition to her teaching at the University, she has also adjudicated for the Music Teachers National Association and has taught numerous Master Classes across the United States, focusing on the unique role of the pianist in the collaborative process of making music.
In addition to her work in the School of Music, Ms. Amendola has recently been appointed as the Assistant Dean for the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
Before her appointment to the faculty of the University of Northern Colorado, Ms. Amendola taught at the Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland, New Zealand and in the Preparatory Department at Northwestern University.
