At the University of Northern Colorado, technology instruction is infused into all music curricula, giving every music major the skills they need to excel in today's classroom or studio. While several technology specific classes are available as electives, the prime mission of UNC Music Technology is to incorporate computer training into all facets of music instruction at UNC.

Because of this, UNC does not provide degree programs in Music Technology, Sound Recording or Audio Engineering. Doctoral students may choose Music Technology as a secondary emphasis, and all students are encouraged to take MUS 209: Introduction to MIDI and Music Software, which is offered every fall. Students may also enroll in MUS 309: Advanced MIDI and Sequencing and MUS 313: Synthesis and Sampling, which are offered in spring semesters, as well as our summer workshop series. MUS 509: Electronic Music is offered every other fall and is a required course in some graduate degrees. Other courses are being added each year.

We feel that our method of exposing all music majors to music technology better prepares all our graduates for professional careers in music education, performance and research. If you have any questions about music technology at UNC, please feel free to contact us.
