Beginning Handbell Workshop
Tuesdays May 29 - July 3 • 6:15-9:15pm
This class will focus on a good foundation for ringing handbells and chimes through a simple effective method that will have you reading notes and counting in no time. Care of bells, set-up, general musical terms and their markings as well as those specific to handbells, ringing techniques, dynamic markings, understanding key signatures, and equipment needed to start a bell choir will be covered. To help in understanding problems of performance versus practice, an informal final concert will be given for family/friends on the last night of the workshop. Each ringer is responsible for attending all sessions possible, especially the final concert, as a missing person is a missing note!

Clay Classes
Classes begin first of every month.
Learn fundamental wheel-throwing techniques, handbuilding and glazing through step-by-step instruction. The Clay Center has all you need to begin your journey in the art of playing with clay. Classes are also open to the advanced student.

Finger Pickin’ Good
Tuesdays, June 5– July 10 • 6:30 –8pm

Intermediate guitar class where the students lose the pick and start using their fingers and thumb. Students have to know certain basic chords and bar chords as criteria for the class.

Just Imagine!
Children’s movement-based
improvisation & theater workshop
June 11-16 • 1:00–3:30pm
(Saturday 1:00 to 2:30)

A one week workshop in movement-based improvisation and theater. Children will love creating together through a “snapshot” of the musical, Seussical. The experience will include developing simple improvised choreography, responding to script, characterization, costuming and creating the set. There will be a performance on Saturday.

Parent & Child Art from
Recycled Materials

Thursday, June 14 • noon to 2pm

Create art projects with your children using recycled materials. This is not a drop off class – rather a chance to create WITH your child. We will make easy and fun art projects using recycled materials. Everyone will go home with art / craft completed and lots of ideas for future projects!

Ladies and gentlemen…children of all ages... let the fun begin! Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy an evening of dance performances featuring Tribe Sidysaan, hooping, live music, an arts and crafts show and sale, kids activities, and tasty treats for sale. Come on, join the circus!

Moving With Story
Yoga, Improvisation and Storytelling
June 25/27/29 MWF • 1:30 –3pm

A three day workshop celebrating favorite stories through movement-based improvisation. Children will experience the fun of yoga warm ups and games. They will develop “moving stories” together using movement improvisation, simple and created sounds, props and costumes. There will be a sharing with parents and friends on Friday.

Photographing Flowers
Saturday, June 23 • 9 –10:30am
Summer provides endless opportunities to be outside with your camera focused on the amazing shapes and colors of flowers in bloom. Here is the chance to learn tips and tricks for adding to the drama and intensity of your floral images. Topics include macro imaging, light, and composition. Bring your camera!

Shining Stars: Integrated Arts Workshop for Children with Individual Needs
July 9/11/13 MWF • 1:30-2:30pm

A three day workshop for children with individual learning needs. Children will enjoy the benefits of fun yoga warm ups and playful poses, along with movement based improvisation and games. Creative group work incorporating movement, sound and simple visual art will offer all children an opportunity to shine! There will be a sharing with parents and friends on Friday.

Multi-media Workshop
Saturday, July 14 • 10am–2pm
Everything from your iPad to the neighbors’ throw-aways are potential art tools and supplies. During this workshop, several instructors will demonstrate some of their favorite tools and techniques for creating the unexpected. The possibilities are endless! Demos include photography, collage, transfer medium, drawing, assemblage and much more.

Inside La Boheme

July 17 – July 26 • 7pm

This study of Puccini’s perennial favorite La Boheme will meet on campus first to explore the opera in depth, culminating with a performance at Central City Opera on July 26; course fee includes ticket to Central City performance and transportation fee for motor coach to Central City.

Adult Workshop:
Moving with Children
Saturday, July 21 • 1–4pm

An invitation to parents, teachers, and anyone working with children to bring the joy of movement into their relationships. This is a fun, interactive workshop that will share how movement benefits and builds connection with children. Adults will be given ideas and also have the experience of short yoga warm ups, movement based improvisation and story.
