National Geographic's Green Guide

Check out 20 helpful ways to go “green” at school and in life. It’s no wonder the University of Northern Colorado was recently named one of four recipients of the city of Greeley’s first Environmental Stewardship Awards.

Did you know:
One ton of recycled
plastic saves:

• 30 cu. yds. landfill space
• 16.3 barrels (685 gal.) oil
• 5,774 kwh’s energy

The United States goes through 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.

Enough plastic bottles are thrown away every year to circle the earth four times!

The Earth Reveries project is a campus and community-wide initiative, coordinated by the College of Performing and Visual Arts through the Office of Community Arts, to promote activities on the UNC campus and around the Greeley area that will provide participants with an opportunity to experience and explore issues about and celebrations of the Earth.

The College, together with numerous campus and community organizations, is currently organizing to cooperatively produce “Earth Reveries.” Academic and public programs are being planned which will explore diverse perspectives, experiences and issues concerning the natural environment. Earth Reveries hopes to provide extensive opportunities to consider the complexity of environmental matters from a wide range of viewpoints.

You are invited to join this collaborative effort. Many of you already may have programs or activities in place that would easily fit within the frame-work of the Earth Reveries project. Others are encouraged to consider this topic as you plan your January-May ’09 calendar and add those events to the Earth Reveries promotional materials.

Please follow this link for an event form to use to have your events included in the Earth Reveries calendar, web site and other printed materials.

Please email any questions to earthreveries@gmail.com

We look forward to working with you.
