Loveland-Area Integrated School of the Arts for K-12 students has been
formed through a community-school partnership guided by the vision of
collaboration and integration. Through extensive arts integration in
its core courses, a robust set of arts focused electives, and capitalization
on Loveland's rich arts environment including bronze foundries, artists'
studios, galleries, the museum and the Rialto Theater, LISA will provide
students with a unique and exciting arts education.
Teams of teachers and community supporters are designing the details for implementation in the Fall of 2007. Initially, LISA will be housed and operated within three existing public schools: Garfield Elementary, Bill Reed Middle School and Mountain View High School. The school within a school model will serve students who have a passion for the arts, are artistically talented, and those who learn core academics better through arts infusion. Thanks to the support of the Center for Integrated Arts Education at the University of Northern Colorado, LISA staff will be able to participate in summer institutes to learn more about effective integration models and to plan the long-range development of LISA.
