Connie Stewart is a UNC Visual Arts Assistant Professor and the ExecutiveDirector of The Center for Integrated Arts Education. CIAE is a research based; grant funded collaboration promoting arts education and arts integration within the curriculum of Colorado public schools. Dr. Stewart teaches Art History and Art Education classes and supervises a practicum in the public schools. Her current research explores questions and questioning in arts instruction. She holds a BA in Elementary Education (UNC 74), an MA in Visual Arts with an emphasis in Drawing (UNC 94) and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership/Aesthetic Education (TU&I 05.) She was the 2002 Colorado Art Education Association Higher Education Educator of the Year, and received the 2006 University of Northern Colorado Academic Excellence Award for Teaching Excellence in Undergraduate Education. Dr. Stewart¹s own art making uses found materials to examine issues of feminine identity and family interaction.
