The College of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Northern Colorado, together with numerous campus and community organizations, have organized to cooperatively produce Pathways to China, as part of the campus and community’s response to and celebration of the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Pathways to China hopes to deepen audiences’ knowledge of the people, events, and places that underscore the importance of Chinese culture in global civilization.
These UNC campus and local community partners have developed a diverse and fascinating array of activities to manifest the cultural and social traditions of the people of the region and to present educational and recreational experiences that make that cultural life come alive. Pathways to China will enliven participants’ imaginations and help them to understand the remarkable degree of variety in Chinese culture and how the roots of that culture are deeply imbedded in contemporary life.
Below you will find a full schedule of classes, discussions, activities, performances, exhibits and programs for students, adults, children and families.

Museum Program on Grand Ditch and Japanese Contributions
In connection with the Asian Games exhibit, Robert Brunswig, Professor of Anthropology at UNC, presents a free program in the Greeley History Museum. Learn about the Grand Ditch irrigation project, designed to capture water from along the Continental Divide and bring it to the Greeley area. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, some of the laborers on this project were Japanese immigrants. Field research conducted by UNC traces the physical remains and historic documentation of Grand Ditch construction camps and shows the important role of these immigrants in this region's agricultural success.
The program is open to the public and begins at 7pm. You are welcome to come at 6:30 to view the exhibit and enjoy light refreshments. The museums is at 714 8th St. Greeley History Museum, 350-9220
