Charlotte Nichol’s career began with teaching high school art
classes in Colorado’s Jefferson County Public Schools. After
receiving her MFA in 1985, Nichols moved to Alamosa, Colorado to
teach undergraduate
and graduate level art classes in Metalsmithing, Design and Drawing
at Adams State College. In 1995, Nichols was elected to the position
of Art Department Head of Adams State College. Her duties as an educator
and administrator included developing and overseeing art programs,
directing
campus
galleries,
supervising faculty and staff, and coordinating the design and renovation
of a new art facility.
In 2001, Nichols joined the faculty at the University of Northern
Colorado as Assistant Professor of Art and Design. Her teaching assignments
include the studio classes of beginning and advanced Jewelry and Foundation Design.
In addition, Nichols serves as the Galleries Coordinator
for the School of Art and Design
. She trains and supervises student
docents in work-study positions to prepare and present the annual public
art exhibition series for the campus and surrounding communities. In
addition to teaching, Nichol’s career as a metal artist has been
ongoing. She has exhibited extensively both on a regional and national
level and is active in the promotion of metals exhibitions throughout
Colorado.
