Michael received his M.A. and B.A. in Visual Arts from the University of Northern Colorado after receiving his A.A. in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Colorado. Michael now teaches Art History at the University of Northern Colorado as well as at Colorado State University and frequently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Front Range Community Collage and Aims Community College in the areas of Drawing, Art Appreciation, and Art History.

Michael's art historical research focuses on the ways that developments in science and technology have affected the artist and the viewer from the 19th Century until the present. He has designed a course on this subject which is in regular rotation at the Colorado State University and is available in modified from at the University of Northern Colorado through Independent Study.

Michael's studio work ranges from the sketches that he makes everyday to multi-media installations such as The Blank Canvas show that Michael organized for the Tointon Gallery in Greeley (2004). Currently Michael is working on large-scale mosaics which incorporate his interests in analog and digital modes of making and thinking about art.
